February Meeting News!
Our February meeting should be informative and fun-filled. Amanda and Roseanne are leading the meeting with a program dedicated to how to look at that pesky top and decide how to quilt it!
We will discuss the questions you should ask when preparing to quilt. Such as,
- What is the quilt going to be used for?
- How much time do I want to spend on quilting it?
- What kind of quilting am I comfortable with?
- How much money do I want to invest in the quilting?
The answers to those questions help direct the design process.
We will break up in to two groups and discuss as many quilts as we can, so bring your quilt tops and questions. I know I have at least two that I could bring!
Amanda and Roseanne will briefly discuss trends and techniques. They will also demonstrate how to make your own clear vinyl audition tool to put on top of the quilt top and draw designs with dry erase marker to see how they look!
The meeting is February 6, 2014, at 6:30pm at the church classroom near HipStitch. See you all there!!!!!!

January Meeting is January 9th.
Our first meeting of the New Year is Thursday, Jan. 9th!!!!!!
There are sooo many reminders that I’m sure I’ll forget something. I guess
there will be updates! Here we go!
1.
We have a guest teacher
on Thursday night. His name is Rod Daniel. Rod is teaching how to make
fabric collages, a popular technique in the Modern movement. Because this is a
hands on experience, we ask that each of you bring the following:
a)
A piece of muslin at least 10x15”
b)
Fabric scraps in floral colors and greens. The
fabrics should not be any distinct patterns. Rod says the batiks, tone on
tones, and solids work the best.
c)
Fine point sharpie or frixion pen.
d)
Glue sticks
2.
We will NOT have show and tell this month so that we can take advantage of Rod’s
considerable talent.
3.
The business meeting will be VERY short. (I hear all
those sighs of relief :-)
4.
The bylaws are coming. Lois will have 2-3 copies at
HipStitch for you to peruse.
5.
The Sunday afternoon Modern sewing group is up and
running for the New Year. We meet the 4th Sunday of every month at
HipStitch, from 2-5pm. Let Suzanne know you're coming sew that she knows which room to open.
6.
Bring your Collage fabric challenge blocks to the
meeting.
a)
12 ½ x 12 ½” blocks
b)
key fabrics are from the Collage line. Use 3-5
fabrics from the collection
c)
use solids as desired
7.
We have planned the
programs through April. We have a list of topics that we want to have presented this year. We
encourage those who have not presented to thoughtfully consider one of these
programs. This is YOUR GUILD, TOO.
These are the main points to note. If there are updates they
will be posted on Facebook and the blog. Thanks!

Charities we support
While editing the blog, Blogger decided to be annoying. It is unwilling to let me edit the Charities button ans has instead deleted said button. So in the interest of saving my sanity, I am publishing the information in a post.
The charities our guild currently supports are the following:
Capes for Courage: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Capes-for-Courage/162463093783457, and
Baskets of Hope: http://www.basketofhope.org.
Please visit these websites to learn more about these charities.
Now for some tea and a break from Blogger!
